Booking a flight close to the holiday will get you rock-bottom prices as airlines attempt to fill their seats, but you will be risking not finding a flight.
The lowest-priced days to fly is the Thanksgiving day and Christmas Eve. The busiest day to fly is Dec. 21. You may find a travel agent helpful with your search for the best prices.
Another advantage of booking early is you will have better luck finding a date and time that you prefer as well as getting your seats together.
